What a day

Today really was flat out awesome; I know I said that about yesterday but really is it a crime to have two great days in a row.  Ok so I should have known that today was going to be good when I got my first omen, at chapel.  I don’t know if you can technically call it an omen at church but oh well.  Todays chapel service was just incredible the speakers name was Brandon Shank.  Yeah, I remember his name and its been fifteen hours ago now.  It was so good and so refreshing, a message directed toward our age group which apparently is hard to do as no one has been able to do it.  It was a great message about complacency and writing about it, makes me want to go read my Bible and pray, which I will do immediately following this entry.  Also today the on going theme has been reactions to my mullet.  I have made a few people laugh that is for sure.  I think even my own mother laughed when she saw the pics.  To go along with that I have been compared to so many different people today, so if you have a comparison, you should share it.  This day also has to be my all time high for the number of people who wanted to take my picture.  But the best part of the day came around at 8 tonight.  We were in the championship game of intramural basketball.  I got all pumped up listening to thunderstruck and TNT by AC/DC and then my all time favorite warm up song for basketball enter sandman by metallica.  Anyways we won our game 59-54 or something like that.  Its awesome.  I’ll get a free t-shirt and my big head just got bigger that is for sure.  You can rest assured that there will be a pic of the shirt when I get it.  I mean so today really has been great.  I don’t know what else to say except for that it sucks for tomorrow because it really has a lot to live up following the past two days and thats when it hit me…photo-268.jpg

A great day

Today was a good day.  The intramural team won in the semis tonight.  We mercy ruled them, to their credit they played most of the game with four guys.  But other than that well I’ll just let you look.  I got a hair cut.  Here are some before and after pics, my hair was long enough to fit into a pony tail, it was long.  But I got into it with the lawnmower this afternoon its hard to say who won because after the fight I looked in the mirror and well thats when it hit me…photo-254.jpgphoto-255.jpgphoto-257.jpgphoto-258.jpgphoto-260.jpg

A true brother

It is Sunday night and I made curfew by a minute and a half tonight.  I was not however out partying it up.  On the contrary my older brother Tim asked me to accompany him on his travels to his two services that he was preaching at today.  Well here is what happened.  We left last night at around ten from Springfield.  We drove to Tulsa and stayed at his house.  With only one fiasco involving keys, but whatever.  Today we got up and had a service in Mounds which was about twenty minutes away.  For the night service we then drove two hours farther West to Chickasha.  After service we jumped in the car and left around eight.  So well here I am 5.5 hours later and I’m gonna bang out some homework and thats when it hit me…photo-248.jpg

Guess who I saw

So pizza and bowling last night was awesome.  There was a girl there for the interviews from Butte, MT.  I’m sure she’ll represent MT well.  The pizza was delish and it was fun chatting with new people.  When the bowling came around I brought my A game.  Tthe first game I bowled a 141 and the only disappointment was that I didn’t get to finish my second game as I was really hitting my stride.  I was in the high eighties in the sixth frame.  It was a really good time though even though I felt a little out of place at times.  All of the people there were very different from the people I am normally around, we call them south siders here as they live on the south side of campus.  I was the only north sider there so it was interesting.  But the highlight of the night by far was something more amazing than I could have ever wished or dreamed of.  It was on a whole other level, ok so here is what happened.  We had just been kicked out of the bowling alley because our time was up.  I was trying to find a ride with someone who would be willing to drop me off on the north side, since everyone else lives on the south side.  Some people didn’t want to give me a ride though because they were bitter that I had beat them in bowling.  I finally found some nice people that were willing and we proceeded out the door.  And thats when it happened.  There was a huge crowd of people just everywhere, screaming, I didn’t know what to do so I rushed back inside, what can I say I was scared.  When I got back inside I saw that the bowling alley was empty of everyone from our group and that there was only a small group moving forward from the back.  There were like ten guys in suites with a couple people walking between them.  I waited at the door for them but then it started  to go bad.  I heard a burly voice yell, “that guy, get him” I made a break outside and went around the corner and then ducked so they wouldn’t be able to see me in the still crazy crowd of people.  I waited a couple of minutes and then decided to try and sneak away.  I began to move forward and suddenly there were spotlights on me.  I looked up in amazement as the crowd was cheering for me or so I thought.  After a few minutes of soaking in the glory I turned and saw Barak and Hillary right next to me as well and thats when it hit me…photo-247.jpg

Pizza and Bowling

Yes tonight is the night.  I have been waiting pretty much all semester for it and now it is finally here.  BOOyah.  I may be a loser because I have been looking forward to this but tonight, oh man, tonight I am getting free pizza.  Evangel is bringing in about thirty prospective students for scholarship interviews tomorrow and they are welcoming them tonight with pizza and bowling.  Since I went through the whole process last year I get to kinda hang out with them this year.  Pretty much my job is to be the cool college kid, so I pretty much got that on lock down.  I mean in my mind after these kids meet me tonight they are all gonna want to come to Evangel.  But seriously so the pizza is going to be so good, since I never eat it here and pizza in the caf isn’t real pizza.  And bowling well bowling is fun, but I’m pretty sure this is going to be free and so it will be even more fun tonight.  So I’m pretty pumped to hang out with all these kids.  It’s funny the difference a year makes.  I mean I have have been reminiscing about what my thoughts were last year at this time and man was I stressed.  I didn’t know where I was gonna go to school whether I was gonna play football.  Now I get to hang out with these poor kids going through the same stress and I just get to have a blast.  I do have to say I already ran into one of the interviewees by total accident.  I was at lunch and sat down at a table with about six people I normally eat with, I mean the table was packed.  There was one kid I didn’t know but I just figured he was with someone else there.  About ten minutes later I found out he wasn’t.  He’s here for the scholarship interview.  I introduced myself, but just laughed when he left.  It was so funny when we all realized that none of us had known him and we all thought he was with someone else.  Well at least now I know for sure there are gonna be some characters there tonight and thats when it hit me…photo-242.jpg

Its the little things

You know sometimes its crazy what can really make you happy in life.  Today was a pretty rough day.  It was probably the hardest time I had waking up all semester.  My body was so sore from an intramural game the night before (which really does make me feel like an old man), I could barely stay awake in my 9 oclock.  Then during my 10 oclock hour things got ugly.  I was finishing some homework for my 11 oclock class.  All I had to do was finish some stuff on Excel.  It only took about twenty minutes for me to go from being enraged to helplessly frustrated, but those feeling rotated for the remainder of that hour only to be exacerbated by the teachers comments the following hour.  Wow and all of that before lunch.  But you know even though I don’t get to be in complete control of the story of my life I am in complete control of this blog and so I’m not gonna leave with me just being frustrated about to completely lose it.  No, so I continue on with my day.  I headed down to lunch.  On the way I ran into Dr. Nunnally exchanged greetings, and then I smiled as he knew my first name, I mean he’s a big deal, and he could pick me out of a crowd of people.  Unfortunately, it was going to take more than that to brighten my day, though that is a great side story.  It’s when I got to the caf of all places that my day finally turned around.  You see the caf gets a bad rap for having awful food for ridiculous amounts of consecutive meals and well they deserve it.  The one bright spot I found in the caf last semester was the soft serve ice cream machine.  But wouldn’t you know it they figured out a way to mess that up this semester too.  It has been out of order shamefully this entire semester.  Yet everyday it is the first thing I look at when I get in the caf and today was the day.  It was fixed.  I had a chocolate cone after lunch and after dinner.  I tried to bring one up to my room for a pic, but its a long walk so most of it is eaten, but you can imagine how it looked in all its splendor and youth.  It’s just crazy that a day that was so bad could be so great because of one little (well I’m pretty good at making cones and they are normally pretty big) thing and thats when it hit me…photo-236.jpg

OHHH!!! What to do

Some material in todays video may not be appropriate for people under the age of 12 or those lacking a sense of humor.  You are never going to believe this but, today I was on you tube and I found a video of myself.  Except it was me showing off my super sexy hair.  I couldn’t believe it.  I watched and there I was flaunting my hair, throwing it side to side, running my hands through it and over it.  It seemed like it went on for hours, when in reality it was merely seconds.  I couldn’t figure out how someone got such personal video footage of me or my hair.  I feel violated.  I of course emailed the person who posted the video, but the chump never responded.  So what I am I to do now, I mean you work so hard to have a good reputation and then it just gets flushed down the drain in one fell swoop.  It’s just awful.  So I bring before you today my faithful readers, this perilous situation, what am I to do.  I have provided a version of the video just below, it has however been blurred for your protection as the sight of me playing with my hair may cause you to lust and me being and upright brother in the Lord, I do not want to be the stumbling block that causes you to sin.  I fear that this may be an epidemic that is spreading though.  I am forced to wear a hat wherever I go.  Yesterday, I went out in public without one and I was instantly swarmed by people being called such names as Fabio.  What am I to do.  Help me.  These dreadfully good looks and beautiful locks are becoming my demise and thats when it hit me… they are a blessing and a curse

Pardon my blogging

You know I think that it as we have developed as blogger and reader that I let you know a little more about myself and why I blog.  Let me first however explain todays title.  I had a blog all written up about something that is wildly I mean crazy exciting, but the picture requires three other people who I was not able to gather tonight so this is really just a back up plan.  At the beginning of the semester I came to school with high hopes, I was here to learn.  In fact I loaded my schedule up with 21 credits, Top That.  I pretty much just go to class all day all week.  Today I spent over 6.5 hours in class.  I enjoyed almost every minute of it.  Sometimes I don’t understand how I can enjoy it as much as I do, its my inner geek coming out.  I do have a confession to make though.  Some of my classes are really easy, which I will address in a moment so I try and fill some of the extra brain power that I am not using during class.  Well the best way to do that is to utilize my hair to its fullest potential.  You are confused now I know it, simply put with my hair as long as it is you can’t see the wire from my ipod going up to my ear, so with one ear I listen to the lecture and with the other I listen to music.  I still listen (this is mostly to reassure my mom) and am very attentive, it just fills up some of the time when not much is going on in class.  OK but now to tackle the main ? and that is why do I blog.  Well here it is.  About two weeks into the semester I started to wonder if I was ever gonna get any homework, I mean I’m not at a shortage of classes here.  I thought that the classes would eventually start rolling and then the work would ensue.  About three weeks in nothing had changed.  Then we had spiritual emphasis week.  The teachers are supposed to take it easy on us poor students during this week so we can focus on our spiritual aspect, so I figured I was about to be barraged the following week, once again to my pleasure I was wrong.  So as I sat in my room with nothing to do at night I decided I was going to make something of my life and thats when it hit me… why not start a blogphoto-231.jpg

Enchanted…uhhh

This weekend I was forced to go see the movie Enchanted, now I hope this is entertaining to you because it wasn’t entertaining to me, not in any way.  Out of the goodness of my heart I didn’t hate it but I almost did.  I would like to first justify my situation as to why I was forced to see this movie.  There was a group of four of us two guys and two girls, so the vote would naturally be even, and its not like I was even pulling to see Rambo, I just wanted to see August Rush, which is a great movie by the way.  However the other guy and one of the girls are a new couple so my poor male friend was naturally feeling obliged to be a good boyfriend and sacrifice.  I really can’t blame him for that so I have no hard feelings, well not too many.  Now what made the movie worth it is that before we went to the movie we stopped at one of the girl’s house and some really good food.  Now we said we would decide there between August Rush and Enchanted.  Now I could see I was about to lose three to one, but I wasn’t about to go down without a fight, so I changed the vote.  I said lets see what this girls parents say.  Now I wasn’t sure what my odds were with her parents but I know they were better than the 0% odds I had with our group.  To my dismay though, both parents suggested Enchanted.  Now some may have given up here, but not me, I had one last ditch effort.  This girl also had a younger sister who had two friends over that night.  Now these three girls are all in jr. high and we all know jr. highers are unpredictable.  I tried one more time and swung the vote over to them.  Eventually I guess you have to admit defeat though.  I went to the movie and well I was gonna break it down for you all but its pretty much what you would imagine it to be after seeing the previews, no analysis necessary.  So my friday night was spent watching Enchanted and thats when it hit me…photo-226.jpg
