I heard about this website the other day called pandora.com and so I decided to check it out. Well I have fallen in love with it and think that all of you should be enlightened if you are not already. Pandora is a website that is a totally free radio. Ahhh, but it gets better because it isn’t your normal radio. No you type in either a song you like or an artist and then it finds songs and artists similar to that to match your taste. You then get to say if you like the song or not and it refines it search of music based on your preferences. I have pretty much been listening to it non-stop since I heard about it. It really is so nice because sometimes you need a change up from the music that you have on your ipod but you still want to listen to music that you like. I mean a radio station that is set up just for you and thats when it hit me…

Finals and Fruit Loops
Well it has officially come to the end of the semester, it is finals week. And while I have to kick it into over drive to finish strong on all my tests, not everyone has that same ambition. Not to point any fingers or anything but the people that I am referring to are those at the cafeteria. I wouldn’t say that I am normally a huge fan of the cafeteria, but last week it really took a downward turn for the worst. But while the hot meals have taken a definite turn for the worst, there has been one beacon of hope piercing through the muck and the mire that is served for breakfast lunch and dinner. That beacon is the cereal bar. It is the rock that I build my appetite on. Some talk about this whole silly food pyramid well believe me you get a bite out of every level of the food pyramid with each bite of fruit loops. Other cereals that I enjoy from the cereal bar are captain crunch, frosted minnie wheats, cocoa crunch, and cinnamon toast crunch, but thats a rarity. So there you have it, thats pretty much my diet. I can’t wait to be home and eat real food that actually fills you up and thats when it hit me…
The end of an era
Today is Saturday and being that I will be leaving school and heading back home on thursday, me and my roommate have decided to start taking the room apart this weekend. So consequently, this is the final blog that will be under the loft. I know its sad, but I ask that you don’t cry (too much) or cause a scene at your place of work. I don’t know what to say to you all. It’s been quite a ride thus far and its going to be hard to adjust. I wish you could all be here, not cause I miss you though. No because if you were here then you would be able to help take this loft down. Just kidding, but seriously, if your close you should make the drive and come help. But the big problem now is going to be, where will I reside while blogging. For the next week I will pretty much be in the same place, there just won’t be a loft over my head, but after that it is wide open. I’m thinking about totally revamping the format, going bigger and better. You know sometimes when I think about how I sit here blogging and sometimes I think its really just for my own enjoyment it reminds me of a Seinfeld episode. I don’t know how many of you will remember the episode when Kramer sets up a TV set in his apartment and every time someone comes into his place, he interviews them as if they were on a show. He even took commercial breaks, its hilarious. Well and that is what I feel like right now and thats when it hit me… I will miss my loft which has become my set. To my loft: I won’t forget you. I’ll come back one day. I will find you, no matter what, I will find you, just stay alive.
Just not in the right place
You know life is funny sometimes. Like sometimes it really doesn’t matter what you are doing, its just a matter of being at the right place at the right time. We have all had those experiences when you get something that you really didn’t earn but hey, you were right there so why not. That is always a nice surprise and believe me those times shouldn’t be taken for granted and I’ll tell you why. A few weeks back I entered my name into a drawing. I really didn’t think about it, all I had to do to get my name entered was answer a few questions on financial literacy. Well I guess here is where things start to go sour, I really didn’t give that drawing any thought. Well today was just a crazy day and I was reading some stuff, for a class that started in a few minutes, I was that busy. Then I got a text followed by a phone call, by two different people. Needless to say I was disappointed to find out that my name had been drawn in the drawing today for $200. It was the first name drawn, but they only gave the prizes to people who were present at the time. Many people have said things to me today but it just has been rubbing it in, in fact I am getting tired of showing my face thus the pic. So what can I say, today was just a day where I wasn’t in the right place at the right time and instead of today being a day that I won $200, today is just a day that I could have won some money but didn’t and thats when it hit me…
I dont know
Ok I’m gonna be totally honest with you, I don’t know what I’m going to write about. So if you are super busy at the office then maybe you just get back to work. If you are super busy at the office and don’t want to get back to work then maybe you better just keep reading. You know sometimes I feel so lighthearted on this blog and I think you know Danny you should shape up, pull yourself together quit macking on old movie stars and tackle a real problem a real issue. It just makes me want to get out here and tell you all why the earth is round, well almost, why a piano is set up in scales, why ions of atoms help make things more stable, but then I realize that would require so much thinking, in fact that last line took me about ten minutes to come up with. So here is what I think I’m going to do I’m going to come back later and finish this post hopefully with something super exciting. Ha ha well I’m back and believe it or not not a lot of excitement befell me tonight. So here was my highlight. I got to listen to Dr. Waverly Nunnally speak. He spoke on the proofs of the historical Jesus using only non-biblical texts. It was so good and challenging at the end. The one thing that I have really come to learn this semester is that the more you learn about God the more awesome you realize that He is and the more you realize how much you should praise Him. The only reason that you would ever not feel the compulsion to praise God is if you don’t know who He is or what his character is like. And the best thing is that everything you ever learn about God will only make you be more in awe of Him, unlike people He has no flaws so you do not have to worry about finding out a deep dark secret of His. He is perfect, holy and thats when it hit me…
The grape lady
I was shown a Youtube video the other day in my accounting class and thought it was absolutely hilarious and thats when it hit me… everyone should see this.
Happy Holidays
Yes, today you get the enjoyment of a second blog. Well to be honest with you this is a blog that I have been planning for a really long time and I almost forgot… again. Here in my dorm I feel that I have some responsibility to keep all you whipper snappers out there in line. Now you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. So I am going to lead you to water with this simple reminder. You might want to start getting on to your Christmas shopping. Now you may ask why is he talking about Christmas right now. Its really random and he already blogged once today, why couldn’t he let this wait until a day when he had nothing to write about. Well I’ll tell you why because I have been counting down the days til Christmas and there are now only 250 days left til Christmas. I am so excited and thats when it hit me… I don’t know if I’m even going to be able to sleep tonight.
Moon River
Have you ever found a song and then just listened to it and then absolutely fell in love with it and put that song on repeat. That is where I am at right now. Technically for me it is two songs, however it is really just two versions of the same song. In order to really love a song a few things have to happen. One you have to find it, obviously. Two, it has to be a good song, or at least good enough to trick you. But here is the kicker, if you are really going to listen to the same song over and over for hours, the actual sound of the music has to voice something inside of you in a way that words themselves can’t describe. It’s like a great song doesn’t just sing about something, it tells you about it through the sound. Well this song has done it. I am going to be returning home for the summer in under two weeks now. I am really looking forward to be home. It is also hard for me to realize that my first year of college is all but officially over. It seems like just yesterday I was driving down and couldn’t believe how muggy it was. Now here I am making plans to start tearing down the room, which is going to be no easy task that is for sure. It kind of gives me a nostalgic, reminiscent, yet subtle excitement for the summer all at the same time. Well oddly enough I found a song that is the perfect match. It is moon river. Now this may sound familiar to some of you, and that is because it isn’t a new song, and I’m pretty sure, it will never be trendy. Moon river is played by Henry Mancini, who if you can’t recall also plays the theme song for the pink panther, now thats a classic. This song however is also on the sound track of a movie. In fact the actress in the movie actually sings one version of this song. It is the elegant Audrey Hepburn. Ahhh, and now if the this song sounded familiar to you, that is because this song is from the endless classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s and thats when it hit me…
Top notch singing
Today I had the honor, the privilege of singing in the first ever (give or take I might be making that up) Krause hall choir. Now I realize that not all of you are familiar with the campus politics, if you will, around Evangel. Without that knowledge you really can’t appreciate the greatness of this performance the way that you should, with tears streaming down your face. Krause Hall or the House of Krause, well I love it but sometimes we get a bad rap and stereotype. Krause is known for having all of the jocks which is true; it is also known for being a little out of control which is true as well. Krause smells too, which I might add is not our fault, it is the fact that this building is older than some of these kids parents around here. Not that buildings can’t be old, however, this building hasn’t been touched since the day construction ended. Our lobby has flooded 3 times this year from the AC pipes. Now try and blame the smell of moldy carpet on us poor residents, I don’t think so. No people say we cause the poor conditions in Krause, but the truth is, is that they need us. We are men enough to survive in this environment, an environment that most on campus hardly even know exists. With this is mind consider the following performance. The Krause hall choir is introduced and we all file neatly down from the balcony (yes the whole hall is in the balcony, that fits in with the sometimes true sometimes not, heathen stereotype) in our black slacks and white button up shirts, oh yeah classy if I do say so myself. With then broke out in chorus. We performed “He never failed me yet.” I’m not gonna lie, I haven’t sung for an audience since probably 5th grade and well for me not much has changed. I learn the words and when I have them down, I sing as loud as I can. The whole pitch or notes or whatever they talk about is real overrated. So here we are belting it out and everyone is loving it, getting into it, clapping in their seats. Our first soloist gets up and belts out his short four word solo, which was well, better than in rehearsals but not breathtaking. It didn’t matter the crowd loved it. They loved the next two solos as well, embracing them all with ovations, in the middle of the song. The final part of the song, the basses all had a part and well our bass section, well lets say they aren’t the rock upon which we build our foundation. To be honest I heard audible laughing from the crowd while they were singing and some snickers from the tenors as well. It didn’t matter, we won the crowd over and they loved it. Needless to say we received a standing o, top that and thats when it hit me…
Pardon my lapse
Wow I do apologize for the lapse in my blogging this week. It has been so crazy here, I can’t really understand how it got to be thursday already, and well technically it is friday. I just can’t even remember where my week went. All I know is that I have been in survival mode for the past four days and the total chaos finally subsided with the completion of my accounting exam at 5 this evening. There haven’t been too many weeks in my life that have been as hectic as this. I have however learned a lot from it so let me let you in on a few of my insights. Sour patch kids can provide an adequate sugar high to keep you awake late into the night even when reading a boring biology book. It is also important to note that your body becomes increasing dependent on those sugar doses as the night goes on. A sectional can function as a bed, all you have to do is put a milk crate down at the end to rest your feet on. While running on four hours of sleep one day is tough, days two and three, well maybe you should be glad I didn’t blog on those days. Falling asleep can be done under any circumstances. I fell asleep last night in under two minutes with a lamp shining down on me by simply pulling a stocking hat down over my eyes. The sound of your alarm has a funny way of showing up in your dreams. Cute little babies can sometimes freak you out a little. You get behind in your blogging even when you have so many important things to say. One important thing is that, the other day I watched a movie with Meg Ryan in it. Well me being the big star that I am, she got wind that I was giving her an excellent review and believe it or not she left a comment on my blog. Can you believe that I have been sitting on news like that for days now! This is the final insight I received this week. When your life becomes so busy and cluttered that you can hardly survive, well that doesn’t leave much time to just sit and think and well, if you can’t just sit and think and well, if you can’t just sit and think then nothing will ever hit you and thats when it hit me… well when I got some time to sit and think at least.
